SOAR Party At Your House -A Virtual Camp In July 2020

That’s right, SOAR is excited to announce that we will be hosting SOAR Party at Your House – a virtual camp! It will be July 20-24, 2020 and will consist of about two and a half hours
of video programming that your camper can do anytime through the day PLUS each camper will have the opportunity to have a 30 minute Zoom session each day with fellow campers their age in a fun, interactive atmosphere with some of our fun camp volunteers! We are also very excited to announce that for the first time ever, SOAR Camp will be available in both english and SPANISH!!!!
Our video programming will include both sensory and loud welcomes that our campers have grown to love, as well as singing and music from Uncle Charlie and Value by God, crafts, games, sensory, fitness by Jacob’s Ladder Special Needs Fitness, story time and much more! We will have fun in our interactive time with some special things like scavenger hunts, karaoke, and dance party, plus many more amazing things!
IF you had previously registered for our SOARing for Gold Summer Camp, PLEASE do NOT re-register! We will be sending you an email with information on how you can switch your registration and get a refund or donate the difference as a tax deductible donation. We will do SOARing for Gold in 2021 since the Olympics got postponed as well!
So what does this mean for volunteers? We will still need volunteers both now and during the camp! Right now we especially need help with people who can record videos, do video editing, or maybe you want to film a skit with your family that would go along with one of our lessons (the skit is already written and will be provided to you), or help us in sorting and packing t-shirts to ship to the campers, and then we need help translating all of our videos into Spanish. We do fully understand that a virtual camp is not the right answer for all of our friends and we are truly sorry for that. We have to do what we feel is best for the majority of our friends and we are actively working on programming that might be a good option for those families. We also know that many of you will be disappointed that we won’t have an in-person camp, but we still need you to help us with the following items!
Join SOAR in sharing a 
Virtual Hello to our SOAR participants by sending us short videos for either specific SOAR participants telling them how much you miss them and you can not wait to see them again or a general one to our friends letting them know that you miss them and can’t wait to see them again! Please make videos in LANDSCAPE (horizontal) layout and upload them HERE!
SOAR
is evaluating how to create a virtual SOAR R&R respite night for our participants and we would love to give them a loud or sensory welcome! We also need this for our Virtual Camp! We are wanting to put together a short video clip of as many of our volunteers as possible cheering for the participants. We would love for you to send us a 15 second video clip of you cheering loudly and jumping up and down with excitement like the Chiefs just won the Superbowl as well as a 15 second video clip of a sensory cheer with jazz hands and jumping up and down with excited faces (so vocal cheering or clapping). Please film the videos in landscape (horizontally). Email your video clips to lauraz@soarspecialneeds.
Do you like watching short videos online? Our SOARing with Talent virtual talent show is coming in June and we need a group of volunteers to help us approve/review videos for it. It’s simple, watch the video, make sure it’s family friendly and the audio/video is good to go and your done! If you are able to assist with this, please email paigew@soarspecialneeds.
